English A Levels
As a department, The English Team offer two A level options that explore English in greater depth with specialised teachers who convey their passion for both Literature and Language.
English Literature
Unlocks doors to other worlds seeking to explore the human emotions and experiences of life. Literature enables us to form empathetic connections with characters transporting our minds into alternative viewpoints. Literature explores the big issues of life from love, death, relationships and meaning and makes us reflect on everyday life.
English Language
Highlights the importance of communication as a living, breathing organism. From the evolution of language to our first acquisition of speech, we explore the journey language takes and how it influences our daily lives in society. We use our understanding of British English to connect to more Global themes with the transmission of language.

English Language GCSE Re-sit
If you have not achieved a Grade 4 in your GCSE English, we also offer an additional class that helps to provide you with opportunities to re-take in November your GCSE English Language qualification. For this re-sit we prepare students for the OCR exam board.
