Level 3 Childcare and Education courses

Students on our Level 3 Childcare and Education courses study the latest NCFE CACHE Technical level courses; they achieve excellent results and a valuable qualification which can lead to various career or university options.

1 year Technical L3 Certificate in Childcare and Education

1 year full-time course, students do not need to pick any other subjects

3 days in sixth form and 2 days in placement each week

Progression routes

Entering a profession as an Early Years Educator working with

young children following sixth form.

Progression onto the 2nd year of the Technical L3 Diploma in

Childcare and Education.

2 year Technical L3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator)

2 year fulltime, 3 A level equivalent course (up to 168 UCAS points),

Students do not need to pick any other subjects

3 days in sixth form and 2 days in placement each week

Progression routes

Access to higher education for a variety of courses/careers  involving working with children e.g. Teaching, Social work or Nursing

Entering a profession as an Early Years Educator working with young

children following sixth form.  Progression opportunities to leadership roles.

Course overview

Students build knowledge, understanding and skills through mandatory units, which are both internally assessed, and externally set and marked assessments.

Students learn through a range of different teaching strategies, including class discussion, group work, independent study task and research. Also, through the valuable ongoing work experience in a number of different settings, gaining practical application of their knowledge and an insight into potential career paths.

Transferrable skills

Students develop their academic writing skills, their critical analysis and evaluation abilities, and a wealth of valuable work experience from placement opportunities.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade 5 or above, ideally including English and Maths.

However, an interest/passion for working in careers involving children or in child development is key to course success, so there may be some flexibility on entry.
