Why study Travel and Tourism at Level 3?
Tourism is one of the world’s largest industries currently supporting 292 million jobs worldwide and over 12,500 jobs in Dorset alone. With technological developments such as App technology and advancing technology in the transport industry, the potential for the Tourism Industry to grow, is large.
Travel and Tourism equips students with the service skills needed to work in this industry. In addition, students study the appeal of a range of tourist destinations.

Course overview
The course has a strong vocational element to it with assessments through coursework as well as external exams. Students will get the opportunity to look at the UK Tourism industry as well as other key global destinations. They will get to explore the importance of customer service and marketing as well as the changing roles of institutions and the pressures the modern world brings and the opportunity to be involved in event planning.
Exams will be sat both in Y12 and in Y13.

Students studying Travel and Tourism will:

  • Have a chance to learn about the opportunities available to destinations and the impact of tourism.
  • Explore issues in to the appeal of different destinations.
  • Investigate different aspects of the industry and how different areas of the world may market themselves.
